B-52 attempts to destroy tunnels.
Viet-Cong produced sandals made from car tire that could easily be worn backwards.
Nobody could tell where their footprints were coming from or going.
Viet-Cong would wait until Americans were close, only revealing their arms and weapon. They would fire on their targets when they knew they had a close and clear shot. Then they would hide once again.
They created over 75 miles of tunnel systems.
The "VC" booby trapped certain areas and entrances, and were able to move freely underground, as entering the tunnels was too hazardous for American soldiers. They even tunneled under U.S. Military bases to steal weapons and ammunition. People lived in these tunnels for months, only leaving at night-time to re-supply or surprise attack the enemy.
Claustrophobia.
They made the tunnels narrow so that only Viet-Cong could maneuver through them easily. American soldiers were too big to fit through quickly. They made all tunnels wind back and fourth so that nobody could clearly fire a weapon through. The tunnels were also made out of clay; when napalm struck above ground, the tunnels only became stronger.
GENIUS.
Viet-Cong Bunker.
Punji Pit.
Traps hidden in the woods to catch U.S. Infantry off-guard.
