We traveled across Belize from west to east to find a boat bound for Guatemala. We had been told that the cheapest way out of the country, was by boat. Arrived to the pier just in time (or so we thought) to pass through the migration office and board the small vessel.
When they sell you and your friend a ticket for different times it really puts a smile on your face. As I walk to the end of the pier, the office-workers tell me my boat doesn't leave for another 2 hours... Apparently I had arrived 5 minutes after Sean, which was too late to make the cutoff for the boat (even though it wasn't half full).
I was angry and sweating from the intense heat and finally quit arguing to just sit and wait. A group of school kids jumped the barbed wire fence from their schoolyard and hung out for the whole two hours messing with everything I owned. They asked me question after question and kept saying, "sur, sur, take ma pik-cha". Made my day.
